ART HISTORY COURSE 2024/25
MASTERPIECES THROUGH THE CENTURIES : AN EXPLORATION OF PAINTINGS THAT DEFINE SIGNIFICANT MOVEMENTS AND PERIODS IN ART HISTORY
More than ever, images shape our ways of understanding our world and ourselves. Learning how to look closely and analyse what you see has become a fundamental life skill. This course will give you an insight into what lies behind a painting, revealing new ways of seeing. Key paintings of art history from the 15th to the 21st century will be explored through visual analysis, historical and cultural contexts, and comparisons to other artworks.
Goals
Exploring key artworks and artistic movements around a common subject
Developing visual analysis and critical thinking skills
Understanding the cultural and historical context of an artwork
Inspiring curiosity, creativity, and an appreciation for the visual arts
Mondays, 18:00 - 19:40 (except school holidays) at Athénée de Luxembourg, 52 units of 50 minutes, for beginner and intermediate level, 234 euros

CHEFS D’OEUVRES A TRAVERS LES SIECLES : UNE EXPLORATION DES PEINTURES QUI ONT MARQUE LES MOUVEMENTS ET PERIODES CLES DE L’HISTOIRE DE L’ART
Plus que jamais, notre façon d’appréhender les images influence considérablement notre compréhension du monde et de nous-mêmes. Ce cours vous donnera un aperçu de ce qui se cache derrière une peinture, révélant de nouvelles façons de voir. Des peintures clés de l'histoire de l'art du XVe au XXIe siècle seront explorées à travers l'analyse visuelle, les contextes historiques et culturels, et des comparaisons ciblées avec d'autres œuvres.
Objectifs
Explorer des œuvres d'art et des mouvements artistiques autour d'un sujet commun
Développer les compétences d'analyse visuelle et de pensée critique
Comprendre le contexte culturel et historique d'une œuvre d'art
Inspirer la curiosité, la créativité et une appréciation des arts visuels
Tous les lundis, de 18h00 à 19h40 (pas de cours pendant les vacances scolaires) à l’Athénée de Luxembourg, 52 unités de 50 minutes, niveau débutant et intermédiaire, 234 euros
